The cost of AI automation in the UAE breaks into three pieces that are easy to conflate: the diagnostic (deciding what to build), the build itself (connecting systems, designing the workflow, adding AI where it earns its place), and the ongoing run cost (hosting, API usage, maintenance). Most quotes only show one of the three, which is why two "automation" proposals for the same problem can look wildly different.

The diagnostic

Priced as a fixed session or a short scoped engagement in most cases. This is the cheapest of the three parts and the one businesses skip most often — usually to their cost, because it is what prevents building the wrong thing.

The build

This is where the real range lives, and the range is driven by three factors, not by how impressive the word "AI" sounds in the proposal: how many systems have to connect (a single WhatsApp-to-CRM flow is a different project from WhatsApp, ERP, accounting and a support desk all wired together), how much of the workflow is genuinely variable versus fixed-rule (variable inputs that need interpretation cost more to get right than deterministic steps), and how much approval and governance the workflow needs before a business will trust it to run unattended.

The run cost — the part most quotes leave out

Hosting, WhatsApp Business API messaging costs, and AI usage costs (paid per request to whichever model is doing the interpreting or drafting) are ongoing, not one-time. A workflow that looks affordable to build can be expensive to run at volume if nobody modelled the per-message or per-request cost before launch. Ask for this number before signing anything — a consultant who cannot estimate it has not actually scoped the build.

What actually drives the total, in order

1. Number of systems connected.
2. How much judgement is inside the workflow (more judgement usually means more AI, more governance, more cost).
3. Expected volume, because run cost scales with usage even when build cost does not.
4. Whether the business already has clean data and a system of record, or that has to be built first.

How to get an honest number

Insist on seeing the three pieces separately — diagnostic, build, run — rather than one bundled figure. A proposal that will not break these apart is usually hiding which one is doing the heavy lifting.
