How much does an AI consultant cost in Dubai? Strategy vs implementation vs retainer
AI consulting in Dubai is sold three ways: a fixed-price diagnostic session, a scoped project, or a monthly retainer. My own prices are public — a Strategy Session is USD 250 for 60 minutes, a Deep-Dive Blueprint starts from USD 1,500, and Founder Advisory is a private monthly engagement priced on scope and access. What matters more than the number is buying the right shape of engagement for the stage you are at.
The three shapes
Diagnostic session
One problem, one hour, a written answer. This is for a business that has a real decision to make — where to use AI first, whether a pilot should continue, which vendor to choose — and wants an operator's view before spending more. I price mine at USD 250 and ask for payment at booking, because it filters for people who intend to act.
Scoped project
Diagnosis across teams and systems, options, an architecture and a prioritised roadmap your team can execute. In Dubai this typically starts in the low thousands of dollars and rises with the number of systems and people involved. Mine starts from USD 1,500 and is scoped in writing after a session or application. Beware of projects priced before anyone has looked at your workflow.
Retainer
Ongoing decision support where the consultant carries your context month to month. Useful when AI and automation touch several decisions a quarter. Expensive if what you actually needed was one good answer. Mine is application-based and limited to a small number of founders.
How to avoid paying for the wrong one
If you cannot describe the problem in two sentences, buy the session, not the project. If the consultant cannot tell you what you will leave with, do not buy anything. And if a "free discovery call" is the only entry point, understand that you are the product of that call, not the customer.
What is not included in any price
Your team's time to change how they work, and the cost of the systems that need connecting. Those are usually larger than the consulting fee, and a good consultant will say so on the first call.
